Here is the brief info:

The “Fight On” Campaign, the inaugural event of Take Back the Mic, is an interactive music video competition that gives young people the opportunity to share their own voices.

HuffPost readers have been invited to remix and reimagine the music video to “Fight On” by Derrick Ashong and his band, Soulfège.

Entries will be evaluated by HuffPost readers over the Holiday Season — voting closes on February 20, 2011. The Top 5 videos will then be graded by celebrity guest judges, and the winner will receive $4,500! See the full contest rules here.

  1. Sarcastic Mack says:

This is a song for all the songwriters, who try to write songs for everyone. Your lyrics are meant to motivate, but Jimmy does better saying, ‘Come on’.
Seems so many different songs, want to go viral. Yet your copyright says that your version, is final. Final…

So how am I supposed to remix this sh!t?! Without getting hit with a tidbit of lawyer’s spit, telling me I’m in violation and need to quit. You want us to ‘take back the mic’ and be heard by the masses. Yet, we can’t change the song, so you can just kiss our @sses. I’ll submit ‘two girls and an entire set of glasses’. Dub the song over and hope it passes. I’m classless.

    • Hey Mack,

If you would like to remix “Fight On” or any other Soulfège song please feel free to do so. We actually encourage you to remix the music.

This particular contest is a video contest and for the purposes of the contest the video must be matched to the original song in its entirety as is.

On a side note the new Soulfège record will be coming out this Spring and we welcome any remixes that you might come up with.

      Peace!
